		<title>Skin Care Advice :Skin Care Through the Ages</title>
		<description>At this stage in our life the need to continue with a good skin care routine (cleansing, toning, moisturize/protect) is essential. At this time you may want to consider a under eye cream or gel. Your skin care products should be filled with anti-oxidants such as Vitamins A, C, E, and beta carotene. Selecting skin care products with antioxidants also aids in the in the production of collagen and elastin. Collagen keeps the skin firm and elastin adds and maintains elasticity in your skin, thus reducing sagging skin and wrinkles. While there are many foods high in anti-oxidants it is not likely that we consume enough. Again, exfoliates and facial masks are in order as part of your skin care routine.

Article Content:
A great complexion in your forties and beyond starts with a consistant skin care routine in your twenties. Furthermore understanding your skin type (dry, oily, sensitive, combination) will assist you in selecting the right products.

The twenties are the age of prevention. This is the time when lack of care now will be evident in latter years. For instance, over exposure to sun causes damage to the skin but the brown spots will not be apparent till you are in your forties; squinting in the sun and not using skin dehydration&#160;can contribute to fine dry lines around the eyes. Thus caring for your skin in your twenties should consist of cleansing, toning, moisturizing and protection. Additionally, an occasional facial mask to hydrate and draw out impurities and exfoliation to slough off dead skin and promote circulation may be in order. Blemishes can also be a problem in your twenties, for spot treatments consider tea tree oil.

The thirties is the decade of laugh lines and crow's feet. There is a gradual breakdown of collagen and elasticity thus resulting in less elasticity in the skin and the loss of a firm supple texture. Furthermore, the sebaceous glands become less active, and poorly lubricated skin will not retain moisture as it did in the past so our skin becomes much drier. To make matters worse cell turnover is sluggish thus causing the dead cells to remain on the skin's surface which dulls the complexion. For some, brown spots and uneven color blotches can appear on the skin. At this stage in our life the need to continue with a good skin care routine (cleansing, toning, moisturize/protect) is essential.

In your forties your skin cell turnover takes twice as long as it did at age 20. The loss of the underlying structure (collagen and elastin) contributes to thinning of the epidermis which leads to drooping eyes, neck wattles and causes the skin to look papery. Pigmentation also changes creating shadows and blotches and age spots are now apparent on the face, neck, chest, and back of hands. Your skin care routine now should contain anti-aging ingredients such as peptides and retinol to invigorate the skin. Additionally treatments such as chemical peels and microdermabrasion treatments may be in order. Moisturizers should be rich in emollients to soothe dry skin and rich in vitamins to nourish the skin.

The fifties and beyond, your face as reached maturity. The fat padding beneath the skin has diminished so your face shows more of its angles and hollows. As muscle fibers weaken, the fat that remains under the eyes form bags. Facial bones begin to shrink, causing all-around sagging. Oil production decreases after menopause resulting in significant dryness. As cell turnover rate continues to slow, skin becomes thinner and more prone to wrinkling and drooping. Years of sun exposure or hormonal changes may lead to patchiness or unevenness in skin tone. As with your 40's your skin care products should contain anti-aging ingredients and be rich in emollients and provide nutrition for the skin. Clay masks that deeply hydrate the skin are in order as well as exfoliation treatments. There are many remedies on the market to lighten brown spots, and special serums that will tighten the skin around the eyes. There are also chemical peels and microdermabrasion treatments that actually slough off the first layer of the skin thus exposing the new skin cells.&#160; Consider Skin Energizer when shopping for skin care products and get 15% off!

While aging is inevitable, start with a good skin care program in your twenties and a healthy diet and your skin will reward you for it latter in life. As you can see our skin changes over time, thus it is necessary to evaluate your skin care program regularly to ensure that you are using the right skin products for your skin type.

		<title>Beauty Skin Care :Makeup 101</title>
		<description>I have purchased cosmetics ignoring my skin type and skin tone and wondered why the product didn't perform as I expected. For example an oily complexion should consider powder blushes and oil free foundations. Finally, understanding that proper shaping and coloring of the eyebrows is part of the overall look. The eyebrows frame the eyes and do so much to enhance your eyes and face when properly shaped. Read more about eye brow shaping, fully illustrated too!

=============
Article Content:
Makeup has so much to offer; it can cover imperfections, elongate the face, and enhance the natural beauty of your eyes. For those that wear makeup already and need a refresher course or for those that are just beginning to wear makeup, proper application is essential to fully utilize what it has to offer.

There are several factors to consider when using makeup. For instance, understanding the shape of your eyes (close set, wide set, hooded) is essential. As an example, close set eyes can be made to appear further apart with the proper application of eye shadow. Furthermore, understanding your skin tone and skin type is essential when selecting a foundation, blush and lipstick. Far too many times I have purchased cosmetics ignoring my skin type and skin tone and wondered why the product didn't perform as I expected.

The next to thing to consider when applying your makeup is the event you are going to attend. For instance a night on the town may call for smoky eyes with a little shimmer. Daytime wear should be natural but still covers imperfections and enhance your overall appearance.

Eye makeup techniques

Smoky eyes - perfecting smoky eyes is just a matter of practice. To begin, apply a light shade of foundation or concealer on the upper lid, under the brow and under the eye. This gives you a nice canvas to create your smoky eyes. Next line the eyelid with eye pencil or liquid eyeliner staying close to the lashes. Now soften the line with a q-tip and then apply a dark eye shadow directly over the line and smudge. Continue with the dark shadow going up into the crease of the eye and outward, however do not go into the inner corners of the eye. Lastly apply a lighter color on the instead of the upper lids and the rest of the eye area (under the brow) and blend. For the bottom of the eye apply a thin line under the lashes, staying as close to the lashes as possible and smudge. Apply heavy coats of mascara to both the upper and lower lashes. Smoky eyes are versatile. Colors can range from dark browns to forest greens and dark plums. Additionally you can add a little shimmer if desired. Not all eye shapes can do smoky eyes; dark colors seem to make small eyes appear that much smaller. Additionally, there are a number of variations for the application of smoky eyes.

Natural (minimalist) - this look hit the runway this year to capture the natural beauty of women. The minimalist look strives for a flawless complexion, with the help of concealers and foundation, nude lips that match your skin tone and light soft colors for eye makeup. Consider nude shadows for the lids and maybe a taupe for the crease and blend. Blush should be light and easily blends with your skin tone. Apply brown mascara for a final finish.

Daytime makeup is similar to the minimalist look however a little bit more color may be in order. For the eyes start with two shades, a light and dark shade of your choice. Apply the dark shadow over the lid and up into the crease, apply the lighter shadow to the brow area and blend. If desired you can line the bottom of the eye with an eye pencil or apply a light shadow under the eyes to brighten them up.

Foundation techniques

Foundation comes in an array of formulas. There are cream, cream to powder, mineral makeup, and liquid to name a few. First and foremost is selecting the right foundation for your skin type; this will ensure a flawless finish. Your foundation should be close to the skin color on your neck to avoid any dramatic differences in color. Additionally, if blemishes or skin discolorations are a problem consider a concealer. Note, there is also an array of concealers, some are designed cover blemishes while some are designed to cover under eye circles. It is important to understand the type of concealer you need.&#160; There are different applications of foundation which is dependent upon the type of foundation you use. For instance, mineral makeup is usually applied with a Kabuki brush, while liquid makeup is applied with your fingertips or sponge. Basically the key is covering and blending to an even finish.

Blush techniques

As with foundation, there are various types of blush formulas such as cream and powder. Additionally, blush techniques can elongate a round face or just bring a rosy glow to your complexion. For a rosy glow, smile and apply the blush to the fullest part of the cheeks, commonly known as the apple, and blend.&#160; Read this article on how to contour your face with blush.

Eye brow techniques

As indicated above properly shaped eyebrows are essential in framing the eyes and enhancing your overall look. Here is a great post and illustration to help you shape your eye brows. If you have the money, have your eyebrows properly shaped at the salon and then you can maintain the shape.

Lipstick techniques

To properly apply lipsticks make one swipe of the lipstick across the top lip and one across the bottom lip. Apply more lipstick to fill in or create a darker effect. Once you are happy with the color, blot with tissue. Other tips are: use a lip liner or your foundation as a base, this technique will make your lipstick or lip gloss last so much longer. Line your lips with the same color as your lipstick, never use a dark lip liner with a light lipstick. To make your lips look fuller, line the bottom lip and add a little gloss to the middle of the bottom lip. Another important fact is that not all lipstick shades look good on everyone, understanding your skin tone will determine what shades will look best on you. If you like bold red, here is a good article on how to select the right red for your skin tone and application tips.&#160; Also read DIY lip plumpers.

Above are the basics in the proper application of makeup and while it may seem like a lot to comprehend, it is really just a matter of understanding your face shape, skin type and skin tone to really create that perfect and individual look. Additionally, I find that practice makes perfect and so do not be afraid to experiment with different colors and application methods.

		<title>Skin Care Advice :How to Care for Combination Skin</title>
		<description>Those cleansers with a higher pH balance have a tendency to strip the skin of its natural oils thus further drying out the dry area and prompting the oily areas to produce more oil. While using two toners may seem like to much work, remember you are dealing with two different skin types. Another option is to purchase or make a balancing toner. Here are a couple of suggestions: Avalon Organic Botanicals Vitamin C Balancing Facial Toner and Obagi C-Balancing Toner.

=============
Article Content:
A combination skin type is a condition whereas part of the face is overly dry and other areas are oily. The oily condition usually occurs in the T zone, which encompasses the forehead, the nose and chin areas. These areas are prone to breakouts (blackhead, whiteheads, pimples) more often because of the higher percentage of sebaceous (oil producing) glands.

A skin care program for combination skin can be frustrating as you need to treat both oily skin and dry skin. However, there are simple skin care steps you can take which can reduce the oil in the T zone and still moisturize and hydrate the dry areas.

As with any good skin care routine cleansing with the correct product for your skin type is vital. For combination skin, consider a cleanser that has a pH balance of 7 or less.

Check out this cleansing which has a pH of 5 and has great reviews! Herbal Facial Wash

Those cleansers with a higher pH balance have a tendency to strip the skin of its natural oils thus further drying out the dry area and prompting the oily areas to produce more oil. While using two toners may seem like to much work, remember you are dealing with two different skin types. Another option is to purchase or make a balancing toner. Here are a couple of suggestions: Avalon Organic Botanicals Vitamin C Balancing Facial Toner and Obagi C-Balancing Toner.

Toner recipe for combination skin:
7 drops Witch hazel
3 drops Juniper berry oil
5 drops of Rosemary oil
1 oz. Dry peppermint
1 cup distilled water
Boil peppermint in water for 1/2 hour and strain into a bottle. Add the rest of the ingredients and shake well. Apply with a cotton ball or pad. This toner invigorates, cleanses, and rejuvenates and is good oily, normal and combination skin types.

After toning wait a few minutes and analyze your skin. Where is it dry? The dry areas should be treated with a cream moisturizer that is rich in emollients and antioxidants. The T zone should be treated with a lotion or gel moisturizer that is oil-free and noncomedogenic. All skin types need hydration; dry skin needs lubrication and hydration while oily skin needs hydration. Your moisturizers should contain an SPF of at least 15 if it is for daytime wear; no matter what skin type you have it still needs protection from free radicals during the day.

Exfoliation is good for all skin types, it sloughs off dead skin, promotes circulation and smoothes out the skin tone. Good homemade skin exfoliates are: sugars, salts, cornmeal, oatmeal and baking soda to name a few. Either one of these ingredients can be mixed with your cleansing cream to slough off dead skin.

Occasional facial masks are beneficial to all skin types. Clay and mud masks can draw out impurities and toxins in the skin and/or deeply hydrate. Select a mask for combination skin to get the best results. Another option is to apply French green clay (known for its ability to draw out excess oil) in the T zone and milder clay such as white kaolin clay in the dry areas. Get some clay recipes at Complete Skin Care Therapy

Here is a pumpkin mask with alpha hydroxy crystals that replenishes and renews for spa-quality skin rejuvenation!

Caring for combination skin can be very challenging because you are really dealing with two different skin types (dry and oily). However, there are many products on the market for combination skin which will eliminate having separate products for the dry areas and oily areas. Nonetheless, understanding that the T zone requires different care than the rest of your face will be to you advantage when selecting your skin care products.

		<title>Skin Care Advice :Treatment and Causes of Acne</title>
		<description>1) Genetics, if one of your parents had acne, chances are you will too.
2) Hormones, during puberty oil glands become more active thus producing more oil to the skin. For some people, this excess oil will clog the pores on the face and produce pimples, blackheads and whiteheads. When these blemishes can not erupt, a bacterium sets in under the skin and thus causes redness and inflammatory acne.

=============
Article Content:
Acne is the most common skin disorder in the United States. It affects those in there teenage years to early 20s. Acne usually affects teenage girls on their face, while boys are usually infected on their backs. While there is no cure for acne, there are numerous skin care products and gentle herbal home made recipes to reduce the outbreaks of acne.

Acne is a skin disease that can cause psychological impairments as well as physical. In some instances of severe breakouts it can lead to the person becoming withdrawn and depressed. Severe acne can also leave deep scars and that can lead to the person becoming self-conscious or have lower self-esteem. Fortunately there are&#160;&#160; many medications available today that can reduce the amount of scarring that acne can cause.

Below are common causes of acne:
1) Genetics, if one of your parents had acne, chances are you will too.

		<title>Beauty Skin Care :Combatting Winter Dry Skin Patches</title>
		<description>2) Apply an emollient rich cream on dry patches while skin is still damp. Continue to apply cream frequently throughout the day. I have used Eucerin and I also find that body butters work great too. Other options are Vitamin E and oils such as olive oil, avocado oil, tea tree oil, grape seed oil, etc. where a little dab will work wonders

=============
Article Content:
Patches of dry, flaky and itchy skin are common during the fall and winter months. While they can appear on almost any part of the body there are typically common on the legs, face, and hands. While there are many skin conditions that cause dry patches such as eczema, psoriasis, and fungal infections, this article will deal with dry skin patches due to environmental factors, such as cold weather and low humidity and the lack of hydration to the skin.

Below are some simple steps to help you treat dry skin patches:

1) Limit the time you spend in the bath or shower. If you like extremely hot showers, adjust your water temperature down. Showers and baths strip the body of its natural oils thus causing the skin to become overly dry.
2) Apply an emollient rich cream on dry patches while skin is still damp. Continue to apply cream frequently throughout the day. I have used Eucerin and I also find that body butters work great too. Other options are Vitamin E and oils such as olive oil, avocado oil, tea tree oil, grape seed oil, etc. where a little dab will work wonders
3) Evaluate your soap. There are varieties on the market that can provide moisturizing ingredients. If you use a deodorant soap use only in areas that need it, underarms, etc. These types of soap are harsh and very drying. Better yet consider making some homemade soap rich in essential oils that offer so many benefits to the skin. They make great Christmas presents too! Get some exquisite soap recipes - Vanilla, Honey Oatmeal Soap and Lavender and Honey!

4) Exfoliation is recommended for dry patches if the area is not inflamed or has broken skin. Exfoliates will slough off the dead skin on top thus allowing your moisturizer into the lower layers of the skin.

5) Hydrate from the inside! Drinking water is vital to good health and good skin. Most people do not realize the importance water plays in their overall health.

6) Diet - unfortunately fresh fruits and vegetables are scarce in the northern climates, however try to follow a diet that is rich in Vitamin E, A, C, essential minerals and omega-3 fatty acids or consider vitamins and supplements.

Remedies for dry skin patches:

1 drop tea tree oil
1/2 teaspoon almond oil
Rub into dry patch. Great for those small dry patches!
Another option is to add tea tree oil right into your moisturizer.

Aloe Vera gel has wonderful properties thus it is widely used in skin care products. Apply directly to the dry patch. Be sure to purchase 100% aloe Vera gel or better yet grow you own plant.

Soak a washcloth in milk and lay on dry skin patch for five minutes. This is soothing if the dry skin patch is itchy too. The lactic acid in milk is well know for its hydrating properties and a gentle alpha hydroxyl acid exfoliate.

How do you treat dry patches of skin? I would love to hear your remedies!

		<title>Beauty Skin Care :How to Brighten a Dull Complexion</title>
		<description>Cleansers - Get a facial cleanser specific to your skin type. Your skin care cleanser should thoroughly cleanse but not over dry the face. If after washing your face your skin is overtly dry and tight, you should consider a different skin care cleanser. Usually a dry skin type should select creamy cleansers, oily complexions should consider a foaming face wash, for sensitive skin and combination skin types consider a cleanser that has a low pH of 7 or less. Read more about caring for a Combination Skin Type.

=============
Article Content:
Did you ever notice that some people just have a glowing complexion? It is not their makeup that gives them that glow it is the canvas on which they started. A great complexion that has a natural glow starts with proper skin care and a healthy diet.

The condition of your skin can be a good indicator of your overall health. For instance a poor diet and bad habits such as smoking and too much alcohol can lead to a dull complexion, baggy eyes and even a yellowish tint. Additionally an improper skin care routine or no skin care program at all can lead to premature wrinkles, sagging skin and patches of dry skin.

First and foremost understanding your skin type is the first step for proper skin care. By understanding your skin type, i.e. dry, combination, oily, sensitive, you can begin to select the right ingredients that are the most beneficial to your skin.

Cleansers - Get a facial cleanser specific to your skin type.

Toners - are used to restore ph balance and remove the last bits of cleanser left behind. I am a firm believer in toners. If purchasing a toner be sure to select the one that is right for your skin type and has the most natural ingredients. Homemade toners are easy to make. Green tea toners are superb and are high in antioxidants. Other herbs that can be for toners are elderflower and sandalwood for dry skin, fennel or lemon balm for oily skin, and chamomille for combination skin. Apply with cotton ball or pad and do not rinse.

Herb toner recipe: 2 Tablespoons dried or 1 Tablespoon fresh herb depending on your skin type (see note above), 2/3 cup distilled or purified water.

Exfoliation - is a method of removing the dead skin cells on the upper layer of your skin and increasing circulation to promote new skin cells. Once used only in exclusive spas at a costly amount, exfoliation is a simple technique that you can do at home. <title>Beauty Skin Care :DIY Bath Bombs AKA Bath Fizzies</title>
		<description>Wetting agents:

2 3/4 tablespoon almond oil (if allergic to nuts consider olive oil or grape seed oil)
3/4 tablespoon of water
1/4 teaspoon of Borax
1 1/2 teaspoon lavender essential oil or fragrance oil

Instructions:

=============
Article Content:
Bath bombs also known as bath fizzies are fun and inexpensive to make. Additionally they make great gifts for any occasion. Bath bombs can be easily customized to your favorite scent and color. The main ingredients are baking soda, citric acid and water however by adding special oils you can easily make a moisturizing bath bomb to nourish and hydrate the skin. You can also make muscle relieving bath bombs and detox and stress reliever bath bombs.

Below is a simple recipe to get you started:

Moisture Bath Bomb
Ingredients:
1/2 cup Citric Acid
1 cup baking soda
1/2 cup corn starch
1/4 cup Epson Salts

Wetting agents:

2 3/4 tablespoon almond oil (if allergic to nuts consider olive oil or grape seed oil)
3/4 tablespoon of water
1/4 teaspoon of Borax
1 1/2 teaspoon lavender essential oil or fragrance oil

Instructions:

Mix all the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Thoroughly mix with a wire whisk for about a minute. Because of the dust it produces you may want to cover your nose and mouth with a mask or bandana.

Mix the wetting ingredients in a small bow and mix. Quickly stir in the wetting mix into the large bowl of dry ingredients stirring quickly to eliminate unnecessary fizzing. Stir for at least a minute.

You mix should hold together when pinched between your fingers. It should not stick to your fingers, be doughy or overly wet. Important: if your mix is too wet mix up 2 parts baking soda to one part citric acid and add to mix. If you just add more corn starch or Epsom salts or whatever you lessen the fizz in your bath bomb.

Molding - in order to keep costs minimal and for first timers I suggest you mold these into 1 inch bombs. Fill a tablespoon full of mix and compress, then pop out the mix and mold into a ball. Although they may not be perfectly round, after drying about a half hour you can roll them in your hands and smooth them out. There are endless possibilities for molding such as purchasing molds, old Easter egg shells, silly putty shells, melon molds, etc. However if you wish to purchase molds then get them at
document.write('Ebay');
 &#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; or Amazon.com

Colorant - there are options if you wish to color your bath bomb such as food coloring or powdered colors.

The possibilities are endless for making bath bombs. Consider adding Shea butter, cosmetic clay, aloe powder, milk or goat milk powder, etc. Fragrances are endless too! You can watch the video at Complete Skin Care Therapy
